Donovan Turchin, PT, DPT
Donovan Turchin, PT, DPT, is a driven and compassionate healthcare professional dedicated to promoting wellness, functional independence, and quality of life through evidence-based physical therapy. Originally from Michigan - the Great Lakes State known for its four distinct seasons. Donovan's early experiences cultivated a deep appreciation for resilience, nature, and community, values that continue to shape his personal and professional philosophy.
Donovan earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Kinesiology from Oakland University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and went on to complete his Doctor of Physical Therapy at the University of Michigan in 2021. His clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of therapeutic approaches, including Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), percussion massage, myofascial and trigger point release, joint mobilizations, Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), and a diverse array of therapeutic exercises such as calisthenics, functional training, Progressive Resistance Exercises (PRE), and TRX suspension training.
His philosophy centers on putting the "fun" in functional - crafting individualized, real-world movement programs tailored to each patient's unique goals, lifestyles, and aspirations.
Donovan's professional journey is rooted in a non-traditional path marked by entrepreneurial spirit and personal resilience. At the age of twelve, he founded a landscaping business that he successfully operated for over 15 years, later transitioning into construction and heavy equipment operation. These hands-on experiences fostered a strong work ethic, adaptability, and leadership skills, which he now applies to healthcare delivery and practice management. As a single father raising three children to adulthood, Donovan redefined his life's purpose, channeling his energy into helping others restore and maintain their health and independence.
Today, Donovan fulfills a lifelong dream of living in Hawai'i, where he continues his commitment to community health as a practicing physical therapist. Outside of the clinic, he embraces the island lifestyle, exploring local cuisine, cultural traditions, and the natural beauty of Hawai'i with his wife. An avid paddler, Donovan enjoys 'ohana paddling and aspires to participate in regatta and long-distance outrigger canoe races.
